A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME..

I went to University in Wellington in the late 70’s. I finished a Law Degree and started writing about the Law. Then I had a brief stint as Counsel in a large public company followed by more writing (specialising in Tax). With that experience I ended up in the CA environment where I remained until 2015, when I set up my own legal business.

After 30 years of providing advice to clients across the spectrum of New Zealand and international businesses I decided it was time for some work/life balance. So now I do the work that I want to do, with people I like.

I can do most of it from wherever I choose (which enables me to enjoy a work/life balance). For me that's home in Hawke's Bay and offices in Auckland and Hamilton. In a world of digital disruption Lawyers and Accountants fulfill the role of trusted advisers to their clients. Their real value is in understanding a particular transaction in the context of the clients business and life plan.

The technical detail fits around those foundations. By providing the sounding board for plans and ideas you can usually tailor the right result from the people who know the business best, the people working in it. The answer is usually always in the room. I have a small number of clients for whom I fulfill that role. I love doing what I do and they think I make a difference.

That's a great way to do business.
